About Me

Hello! Please call me Byron. I'm a 9th grade student who's passionate about learning and self-improvement. I created this website to document my personal growth journey and share my experiences with others.

I believe that keeping track of our progress helps us recognize how far we've come and motivates us to continue moving forward.

My Hobbies

⚽ Soccer

I enjoy playing soccer with my friends. The teamwork, strategy, and physical exercise involved make it my favorite sport. I play defense on my school's soccer team.

♟️ Chess

Chess is my favorite indoor game. I enjoy the strategic thinking and planning required. I started playing when I was seven years old and have been improving my skills ever since.

✈️ Travel

Traveling is my passion, and my dream is to see the world.

🎸 Guitar

I really wish I could write and perform my own songs, accompanying myself on an instrument. But right now, I'm just a guitarist who plays accompaniment.

Academic Interests

School isn't just about homework for me—I genuinely enjoy learning about certain subjects:

Mathematics: I find solving mathematical problems both challenging and satisfying. I especially enjoy algebra and geometry.
Physics: Understanding how the world works through scientific principles fascinates me. I love conducting experiments and learning about physical laws.

Language Learning

I have a passion for languages and believe they open doors to new cultures and perspectives:

English: My primary language for school and this website!
Chinese: I've studied Chinese for as long as I've studied English, but my English writing is better.你好!
Japanese: I've been learning Japanese with Duolingo and WaniKani for 661+ days. こんにちは!
Spanish: I plan to start learning it in the summer of 2026.

I believe language learning is not just about communication but about understanding different worldviews.

My Goals

As I continue my journey through high school, I have set several goals for myself:

Build a language learning community and help language enthusiasts who lack learning resources with your classmates.
Learn AI technologies and master C++/Python to build a quantitative trading simulation project.
Improve my math and physics skills to prepare for my desired university major.
I'm going to visit my favorite universities; my dream school is among the top 10.
